Laurie Myers PTA, LMT, CPT, CYT, MFR Specialist
I started my career as a group fitness instructor and personal trainer in the mid 90’s. I was very active teaching classes, personal training, training for marathons and triathlons. Life was good until I injured myself, I had chronic pain in my hips. This is when I discovered physical therapy. I was in awe of my therapist and decided I too wanted to work in therapy. I applied to PTA school and completed the program in 2009. I was off to work full time at a hospital based outpatient clinic. It was a great job and I loved my co workers. Although I learned a lot and was able to help many of my patients, I still felt there was something missing Unfortunately I just could not help everyone as I had hoped.
Searching for more I discovered the John F Barnes approach to Myofascial Release and took my 1st seminar in 2011, it so deeply resonated within me, my body, my mind and my spirit! This was my big ah-ha moment. With just one class I was able to help so many more patients in the clinic. I dove in from there taking all classes with many repeats except pediatric and equine (to be taken soon) and I will continually repeat classes as I feel I continue to learn and grow as a therapist.
I felt MFR was truly my calling, so I returned to school for my massage license. I completed all course work, graduated in 2015 and opened Tree Of Life Therapeutic Bodywork In June of 2015. In 2017 I completed my 200 hour yoga training. I currently teach Yin yoga which is deep fascial stretching which goes hand in hand with my business values.
